My Ladies & Gentlemen,
It is that perfect mid of the summer. Although July has been a little bit “unfriendly” with us this year, there is no time to complain about it.
I have always been one of those “go on holidays in the fall” kind of person. Maybe it is because I still expect that real summer to show up in the Nordic part of this world. Or maybe it is just because I simply enjoy those bright nights & early morning sunsets in Copenhagen. Who knows.
It is most likely the combination of everything put together.
As the consequence, this year most of the summer days are spent working, brunching, dining with friends, writing about it & exploring the city. I need to admit – it is really enjoyable.
I have spent so many mornings wandering around, picking different cafes, tasting various dishes, finding my favorite cup of americano & meeting new people. As the result, I am falling more & more in love with little & simple parts of life. Sometimes the best things are really just around the corner.
One day last week, I needed to visit a friend & meet another one for lunch. Luckily enough they both were in the same part of the city. However, the gap of the two dates was that timeline when I had all the space for myself.
So, as I was all around the different streets & I even got lost a little bit, I found new lovely corners of this city. Norrebro For A Day journey is something worth your time once in a while.
First step, I usually need my second cup of coffee around 10 o’clock & here I happened to be at a place which was full of people enjoying their sunny day.
As simple as it was, the place was called “Kaffebar” (literaly translated “Coffee Bar”) or for the full name “Røde Roses Kaffebar“. A very small, but gorgeous place. I would probably call it “A gorgeousness of simplicity. When less is really more”. Yes, you could grab a good cup of coffee & I promise you will be charmed by everything here. If you have time, sit & enjoy the surroundings. I noted the address for you: 2200 n, Baldersgade 65.
So, I had my lovely experience & some more time to explore this little part of the city. I have never noticed how many interesting details some streets & builds here have. Probably if I was a tourists I would notice them better. The grass is always greener when you are not used to it.
However, the lunch time was coming & I needed to go & meet my friend. She suggested a place called “Møller Mad og Kaffe“. Yes, I know, most of you know what it is & have already been there many times. Shame on me, being such a food places lover & missing it out. Well, better late than never, & here the time came.
When I walked in, I was simply charmed by the atmosphere & the place. It is a really good spot for those friend gatherings & enjoying the favorite meal of the day! As they serve breakfast all the time. Isn´t that cool? Yes it really is. Here we could get a little bit of everything for a reasonable price & obviously the interior was amazing. Just in case grab the address: Nørrebrogade 160, 2200 & try their avocado: it is goodness!!
The step number three for the afternoon was to walk a little bit, digest that delicious food & chit chat. Meanwhile we were wandering around the whole Nørrebro, we obviously ended up at Rantzausgade. It is a very simple street, nothing ordinary as I have been passing it so often. However, it is full of little contrasts: from small flower shops (you need to visit “Muld“, my favorite flower & wine shop which is on the street by number 2) to lovely food corners & take away places.
“Spises/Bar Nr 20” is a lovely one for summer hang outs & good aperitif & snacks. Plus, I am really excited about the new Spanish tapas place “La Fabrica” to open. It should happen soon, then the street will be even more fun to visit.
Consequently, as I said bye to my friend there, I could proceed to one of my favorite walking spots in Nørrebro, so called Assistens Kirkegård (Assistens Cemitery). It might sound spooky but it is actually a very cozy place for a walk. Another day I brought my Aussie friend there as he was visiting. “A very cool & beautiful place mate” he said.
& here when the afternoon comes & the sun is slowly going down, I would probably give you guys an address which sounds like this: Skyttegade 5. & now you are probably smiling a lot. Yes, after exploring new places you usually still go to those “homie” favorite ones. “Sidecar” drinks & maobao food in the evening with friends is simple coziness. Furthermore, if you catch the time when Jazz is there, then it is an optimal choice to end your Nørrebro day in perfection.
To sum it up, there is a song which has stuck in my head recently. There is a sentence: “Cause a little bit of summer’s what the whole year’s all about”.
Sometimes you really do not need to go too far to find the greatest part of the beauty of it. This time try to take a day for yourself. This was My Nørrebro For A Day, you might find your own perfect match.
